FIFA is one of the most popular football simulator series all over the world. FIFA has been synonymous with virtual football since the release of its first installment in 1994. But recently, a rumor has been spreading that Electronic Arts is changing the name FIFA and the new name of the series they want is EA Sports FC. They have already applied to register the new name.
The previous week after the official release of FIFA 22, Cam Weber, the Chief of EA Sports, wrote, “As we look ahead, we’re also exploring the idea of renaming our global EA SPORTS football games. This means we’re reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all our other official partnerships and licenses across the football world.” With this message, EA Sports made it very clear that what they are going to do. But they said nothing about the reason. FIFA 22 is already getting excellent feedback from the players, but this news has broken the hearts of the FIFA fans.
After the announcement has been made, fans are assuming a lot of possibilities, and they took the help of social media to express their sadness and opinions. But EA Sports made no official statement till now. They haven’t revealed the reason they are let go of the oldest franchise. But their action shows that they may want to break the contract with FIFA. According to the sources, the name ‘EA Sports FC’ is already registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office on 1st October. On 4th October, it’s been registered with the European Union Property Office.
FIFA Series is one of the best gaming series of EA Sports. But after this announcement, fans are sad enough, and if the game with the new name also gets the same popularity, we can find out in the future.
