Elden Ring is one of the most famous RPGs of the year, and the reviews show how much players are enjoying the game. Like every other game, Elden Ring also features several NPC throughout the game. These NPCs sometimes act as merchants; sometimes, these NPCs offer players different quests, etc. In Elden Ring, players will find an NPC who will accuse them as thieves.
Patches is an NPC who will accuse players of stealing things from his chest and attack them. This guide will help you know if you need to kill Patches to save yourself or let him go.
Kill Patches or Forgive Him? – Choice Guide Elden Ring
Once Patches finds out that you have opened his chest, he’ll accuse you of stealing things from his chest and attack you. Players need to attack him to defend themselves. Patches’ attacks are not at all deadly or damaging. Instead, they are simple and predictable. During the fight, when Patches’ health comes to 40% or about 40%, he’ll surrender.
Now players will get two choices- first, accept surrender, and second, continue attacking him until he’s dead. There is no fruitfulness of killing Patches. If you kill him, you’ll get some valuable rewards like Spear +7 and some Leather Armor. But if you let him go, he’ll become a merchant who will give you more valuable items like Margit’s Shackle. Also, killing him won’t get you one of the most important quests to get one of the best armor sets of Elden Ring- Great Horned Targoth’s Armor Set.
Therefore, when the options came, chose to accept his surrender by not attacking him for a few seconds. Once you accept, two more choices will come- ‘Forgive and forget,’ and ‘Some things can’t be forgiven.’ Choosing the latter will start the fight again. We suggest not opening his chest in the beginning to avoid all these. If you don’t open his chest, the fight will not begin.
That’s all you need to know about killing Patches or spare him in Elden Ring. If you are stuck and can’t decide what to do, check out our guide for help.
Killing him nets you Patches Bell Bearing, which opens his shop inventory in Roundtable Hold with the Twins. The only reason not to kill him is so you can do his assassination questline down the road.
