Ubisoft on Wednesday announced the delay of Skull and Bones release for the Sixth time. The Skull and Bones was set to release on March 9th 2023. The reasoning behind the delay was financial and Ubisoft also said “ we are facing major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brand and long-lasting titles which reach across the globe and on many platforms” and blamed the underperformance of their late 2022 titles for financial issues.
Ubisoft has also cancelled 3 unannounced games with the delay of Skull and Bones. They announced, Skull and Bones will be released in the next fiscal year 2023-24 which starts from April until March 2024. So we can expect Skull and Bones to be released as early as April this year or most likely December 2023.
Ubisoft claimed, the extra time they received due to the delay was not in vain and the game has been further enhanced. Skull and Bones when released will show the result of the extra time they are taking to develop it.
Ubisoft slashed its financial goal for the next fiscal year. Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope, released in late 2022, was not performing as expected. Dance 2023 edition was also called out by Ubisoft as the underperforming title.
Ubisoft announced the following games to be released in the next fiscal year2023-24:
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Avatar: Frontier of Pandora (delayed once)
- Skull and Bones
- And many other unannounced titles in development
The above titles are not in any order. Ubisoft announced these titles will be released along with new Mobile titles: Division resurgence and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade.
Ubisoft said they are hoping their major titles like Rainbow siege, Assassin’s Creed, far cry and others will perform better than expected and help their financial issues.
