Kaveh is a Dendro Claymore user released in Genshin Impact 3.6. He is a DPS who builds Elemental Mastery and Dendro buffing artifacts to support Bloom teams. He is also the architect behind the Palace of Alcazarzaray, a student of the Kshahrewar Darshan of the Sumeru Akademiya, and has a complicated relationship with Alhaitham

This broke but nice-hearted guy is no joke on the battlefield. While he may not be up there with his roommate Alhaitham (don’t tell anyone I told you this or he’ll get mad), he can hold his own on the battlefield with a finesse like no other. He doesn’t even lift his Claymore in battle- he lets his suitcase do all the work. As a 4-star he’s not only great but also since he’s Dendro he’s also a very valuable unit.

That said- he’s not perfect. And in this article, we’re going to look at all his pros and cons so that you can decide whether you want to pull or build him for your account and your own personal playstyle.

Pros & Cons of Kaveh- The Architect in Genshin Impact 3.6

On paper, Kaveh seems like a perfect 4-star unit who’s very much needed in the current meta but in practice- opinions quickly change. It’s like his potential has been intentionally stifled to prevent him from being a broken unit but that in itself makes him a very flawed unit instead.

Pros

The first and most glaring strength of his is that he absolutely kills it in Bloom comps. Not only is he a great Dendro driver for Bloom teams but also he doesn’t need another unit for survivability unless, of course, you’re challenging the hardest floors of the Abyss in which case he might- but even that is debatable. Kaveh has a built-in healing system where he heals himself by a massive chunk of HP every time he takes damage from his own Bloom cores. This healing is more often than not enough to not warrant a dedicated healer in Bloom teams such as this.

If that wasn’t enough, he also provides minor buffs to all Bloom-related Dendro reactions that his party procs. This may not be a significant buff like that of Nahida or Baizhu but it’s still a nice extra bit of damage to have.

Cons

His flaws on the other hand are actually more noticeable- even from the outside. He has a massive Energy problem which needs to be compensated for because the majority of his kit’s viability comes from his Elemental Burst. His Skill and Burst also have unexpectedly long-ICDs which is sad but understandable because otherwise he’d be comparable to a 5-star.

Kaveh can also only be used as a main DPS and has no support or off-field function. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing the fact that he’s forced into this box means that he cannot be used for any other purpose and even in his role as the main on-field DPS, he’s outshined by several other units. But that’s not to say he’d be bad at it- just that he has a lot of competition. His ER issues also indirectly force him to be on-field to collect as many particles as possible to get back his Burst after cooldown.

So if you don’t have any other option and you don’t want to build other units for a dedicated Bloom team then by all means Kaveh is the man for you. And if so you’ll have to be satisfied with his decent damage and viability in the overworld and you’ll have to expect to struggle with him in the Spiral Abyss. He fits well into Bloom teams including Nilou’s Bloom teams but know that he’s not the best option in any of them.
