To recruit a Survivor, you first need to find them. Luckily, you will bump into several different ones while exploring the realms. All you have to do is speak to them and they will ask you to complete a task. The tasks can range from collecting items, building structures, or even defending them from enemies. Anyways, whatever task they ask you to complete should be relatively easy to do if you have a high gear level to tackle obstacles. Once you complete the task, speak to them again and they will now join your party.
While they are in your party, you can check out their inventory and use whatever they have stored in their backpack. You can also talk to them and dismiss them if you don’t require their assistance. They will stay exactly where they are, so you can talk to them later and recruit them if needed. Recruiting them a second time won’t require you to complete any tasks, so you can dismiss and rehire them whenever you want. Also, you can only recruit one survivor at a time, so you need to dismiss your current survivor companion before you can hire another one.
