A new feature introduced in NBA 2K23 is the introduction of Core Badges and Core Challenges. Your Core Badge will give you added attributes and bonuses if you equip it on a player. If you head over to the Badge Upgrades section in MyCareer, you will unlock all the badges that you have collected so far. You need to complete core challenges to get points, and these challenges are connected to the badge you are trying to equip. You will notice that you can equip Tier 1 and Tier 2 Badges from the get-go, but you need 10 points to use Tier 3 badges. Once you have more than 10, you can use it up by spending it between the tiers. For example, you can use 10 points on tiers 1 and 2 and use up the remaining points for tier 3. This will give you one free badge to equip, in a sense, coring it by using up some of the returned points from tier 3. This process gives you additional badge points as opposed to what you have.
To complete core challenges to equip the badge and increase the core challenge meter, you need to activate the badge in-game, similar to the challenges for badges in the previous 2K17 game. If you are worried about whether core badge challenges progress over or not, fret not, as these challenges do carry over between all badge levels. This action is performed simultaneously across all levels, making it easier to change your build in the future.
