The Pulsing Caves Beacon in Mortal Shell 2 leads into the Mawbreak Cavern, where you must fight through enemies and navigate the cavern to remove its corruption. Cleansing the Beacon rewards an Ovum, unlocks a new checkpoint, and gives you access to the Beacon’s full range of useful options.
Reaching the Pulsing Caves Beacon
Upon entering the Sanguine Caverns via the corrupted gate, traverse through the entrance zone and fight the Lithopods and other enemies you’ll find on the way. Proceed until you reach the area with the collapsing bridge. As you cross the bridge, it will collapse, sending you to the ground.
Once you land, deal with the enemies and keep moving across the nearby bridge. You will come across flying bats in this area, which can knock you off. You can either shoot them with a Sidearm or dodge from them. Move until you reach the Bone Gate leading into the Pulsing Caves.
As you progress, you will encounter a group of Lithopods near the Beacon. Defeat them and head to the Pulsing Caves Beacon.
Entering Mawbreak Cavern
Interact with the Pulsing Caves Beacon in order to select the option of cleaning the Beacon. Consequently, it opens up the doorway to the Mawbreak Cavern.
Within this area, you will need to travel through the cavern while also dealing with the enemies who are present in the air or on land. The first section has red soil and shallow waters before you move on to the enemies located at the edges of the rocks. By using ranged weapons at a distance, it will make it much easier to manage the journey.
Continue across the wooden suspension bridge into the next area. There, you will see a glowing white statue. When you hit it, a large ghostly creature will appear. There’s no need to fight it, so just run through the red tunnels and move on.
Collecting the Blackblood Stone
Continue toward the end of the cavern to find a stone sarcophagus. Open it to obtain the Blackblood Stone, a Level 1 Tarstone.
The Blackblood Stone causes projectiles to explode in mid-air, dealing splash damage. Its listed splash damage is 2.5.
Cleansing the Beacon
Following the acquisition of the Blackblood Stone, advance until you encounter some fleshy barriers. Remove these obstacles and shoot the spores on the wall to clear the way.
After some time, you will come to a corrupted structure. Interact with it and select the option “Cleanse Corruption.”
Once the corruption has been successfully cleared, you will get a New Ovum Found prompt. Confirm the acquisition to obtain the Ovum and head back to the Beacon.
What Happens After Cleansing the Pulsing Caves Beacon
Collecting the Ovum brings you back to the surface, where the Pulsing Caves Beacon will now be cleansed. The “Beacon Cleansed” message will appear and all menu options for the Beacon will become available for you.
The newly cleansed Beacon can now be used as a respawn point. Resting there permits you to restore Health and Resolve, revive your Shell, and respawn regular enemies.
With the Pulsing Caves Beacon cleansed and the Ovum collected you can now keep going through the depths of Sanguine Caverns and towards the Sanguine Shoreline.
