It is difficult to perform Alley-Oop challenges on NBA 2K27 since they do not occur frequently in regular matches. It becomes even more difficult when it comes to positioning your team correctly. However, there is an easy method to complete Alley-Oop challenges regardless of their rare occurrences.

Easiest Way to Complete Alley-Oop Challenges

The easiest method is to play a regular NBA game rather than one of the important story or key games. Choose a game in which you do not mind losing since your objective will be to only finish the mission. Before starting the game, make sure that the difficulty setting is on Rookie. This is because the opposing team won’t put up much resistance. There are two different methods of performing an Alley-oop.

How to Do an Alley-Oop

The first method is to throw an Alley-Oop to a teammate.

  • On PlayStation, double-tap Triangle quickly.
  • On Xbox, double-tap Y.

It does not have to end in a dunk either. Even though your partner catches the ball and scores with a layup, the play may still be considered an alley-oop play. It would be best to position yourself at the top of the key and yell out a pick-and-roll play. As soon as your partner is rolling to the basket, simply double-tap Triangle or Y to deliver an alley-oop.

However, this strategy may sometimes not work very well since your partner may decide to fade away instead of rolling to the basket, or a defender may come between you. Also, in online mode or higher difficulties, you might get a finishing prompt after attempting an Alley-Oop. Pay attention to any icon that appears over your character’s head during the game.

How to Do a Self Alley-Oop

It is possible to perform a self-throw Alley-Oop as well. Run up towards the basket and tap Square+Triangle (PS) / X + Y (Xbox) simultaneously. In greater difficulties and in online mode, you might need to pay attention to the finishing prompts that appear after pressing either Square or X to continue the Self Alley-Oop.

After pressing the button prompts, you can watch the ball fly off the backboard, catch it yourself, and score. The point is that there’s no need to have a high driving dunk rating as well. If your player ends up doing a layup, this may count as an Alley Oop anyway.

To set an even easier Alley Oop, perform a Quick Isolation first. In this case, all the other players will clear away, leaving a lot of space for you to move around and perform your play. Then just run up towards the basket and tap the Square and Triangle keys simultaneously.

If you have an Xbox, you should press the X and Y keys. The ball will hit the backboard, bounce back to you, and your player will automatically jump to finish the play.

Easy Self Alley-Oop Method

Here’s the basic movement:

  • Get the ball and move left.
  • Quickly change direction and move right.
  • Get past the defender.
  • Create some space by backing up if necessary.
  • Throw the self alley-oop.
  • Finish the alley-oop.
  • Repeat the same movement.

There is no need to create a new tactic every time, and this is a great way to get in several Alley-Oops for challenges like the 250 Alley-Oop Goal. After mastering this move, you can use it again and again. If the defender is too close to you or appears behind your back, step backwards a bit before executing the lob move.

This will increase the chances of successfully carrying out the move. The Accelerator perk can help you execute this task quickly. The new lob system makes this fairly easy because the button you use depends on where you’re throwing the lob from. For a self alley-oop, use Y.

Don’t End the Game Too Quickly

Something else you need to keep in mind is that you cannot end the game prematurely. When you continually block your opponent, you will likely complete the game without having achieved many alley-oops. The ideal way would be to allow your opponent to score some baskets so that you can have more possessions.
