Play local co-op and multiplayer in Minecraft Dungeons
A new action-adventure title from Mojang, Minecraft Dungeons takes its theme from the Minecraft world. In the game, players battle mobs as a single player or as a team of four players. But, the game is more fun with friends. Therefore, in this guide we will let you know how to play Minecraft Dungeons with friends.
The guide will cover everything about playing local co-op and multiplayer in Minecraft Dungeons. If you choose to play local co-op, you won’t have the Splitscreen, but you will still be able to share your screen during the game. On the other hand, in the multiplayer mode you do not share the same screen with other players in your team. Multiplayer allows you a lot of flexibility to explore the environment as you can run away from the teammate.
Let’s look at the two ways you can enjoy multiplayer in Minecraft Dungeons.
Minecraft Dungeons Online Multiplayer
The most important prerequisites of playing the multiplayer in Minecraft Dungeons is that all your friends have to be on the same console (PS4 players cannot join forces with Xbox players) and have access to the game. It’s essential that you are friends in the game i.e. you are listed on each other’s friend list.
Once all the above parameters are met, one of the friend can start the game. When you reach the Camp area, you can send invite to your friends to join or they can join you if you are playing on open online session. However, players who are not in your friend list or random players cannot join your team even when it’s an open online session.
Currently, cross-play or cross platform game is not supported, but we can expect it in a future update. When a co-op game is underway, online players cannot join you. However, in the future update players may be able to join you even during local co-op session.
Minecraft Dungeons Local Co-op
For players on Console, a seconds controller will allow you or your friend to jump into the game. If you have two controllers, you can start a two-person game. This also applies to multiple controllers, you can start a four-person game if you have four controllers. So, the Co-op for console players is pretty easy. You simply require a second, third, or fourth controller connected to the same console.
The same applies for players on PC as well. You require another controller to make the Co-op work, but not one controller and the other keyboard. You specifically require the number of controllers depending on the number of players wanting to jump into the game with a maximum of four.
In local Co-op matches, all the players share the same screen. This limits your ability to explore the scenery independently or run off. All the players in the local Co-op need to stick together. If a player gets left behind, the game will automatically teleport the player near the party leader’s position.
The Local Co-op matches use the character on your account. If you are playing on a level 16 with a high gear, your friends will require to start from the beginning with level 1 character. It’s best to play the game with equal character levels or you can join your friends and start afresh.
