The further into the game you go, the more difficult it becomes. Collecting enough Memory Shards can help you level up and get points to increase your attributes. There are various ways to collect these Shards, and one of the most popular ways is to defeat enemies. It may be tempting to skip past all the enemies and head straight to the boss, but that’s not recommended. It is better if you scan the entire level before heading towards the boss and defeat every enemy you encounter. These enemies also have a chance to respawn every time you rest at a Beacon, so you get plenty of opportunities to farm Memory Shards in the early game.
Besides defeating bosses and enemies, you can also complete the various quests and side-quests. You can unlock side-quests after completing the level for the first time. This is another great way to do a rerun of the level, as enemies can now drop a bit more Shards that you can collect.
While these methods do not look like much to collect Memory Shards, you can try to increase the amount you get by investing in the Talent Tree and crafting Potions. The Talent you should try to splurge all your points during the early game is Luck. Increasing the level of Luck can increase the chances of getting more Memory Shards. You can also try to craft the Focus potion to get a 10% chance increase for getting Memory Shards from enemies.
Besides the above two methods, you can also use Collection of Memories to get a boost in Shards. You can get these from defeating main and mini-bosses, and they come in various levels. The higher the level of Collection of Memories being used, the more Memory Shards you will accumulate.
Each time you level up, you can use your XP points on increasing your three attributes, namely Plague, Vitality, and Strength. Each time you increase these attributes, the stronger you will become.
