The Tiger Shark is one of the scariest looking monsters in the game, with its massive size and sharp teeth, and its tendency to jump from the sky onto the player. However, it is a pseudo-neutral boss and will not attack you unless you threaten or kill its Sharkittens. The Tiger Shark is protective of her children and will come running if you attack the Sharkittens playing around the Sharkitten den. Sometimes during the Monsoon Season you will find the Tiger Shark close to the den, fighting other mobs.
This monster is only available in the Shipwrecked DLC of Don’t Starve, a single-life wilderness survival game known for its eerie animations and washed-out colour themes and the everpresent chance of death by hunger, cold and nightmares. The Tiger Shark is one of the more advanced mob bosses, dropping valuable items such as Raw Fish, Eye of the Tiger Shark and Shark Gills when killed. This guide will take you through how to defeat it.
How to Defeat the Tiger Shark in Don’t Starve Shipwrecked
The Tiger Shark can spawn in any season, even when the player is on a boat, but the chances are much greater during the Monsoon season and almost negligible in the Mild and Dry seasons.
However, the best way to spawn it is by finding by the Sharkitten Den and attacking and killing a Sharkitten, additionally gaining a Shark Fin.
The player should watch out for a large darkening blob on top of their character as this signifies the spawning of the Tiger Shark. Landing on the player could prove to be fatal, so you have a few seconds to dodge the attack.
It is recommended to fight the Tiger Shark on land, as splashing on water will cause waves and may damage your boat. Use a melee weapon that deals high damage such as the Cutlass Surpreme while you are armed with durable armor such as a Football Helmet and a Log Suit. it can be easily kited, as the player will recognize when the Tiger Shark is about to attack.
The monster will open its mouth for its biting attack, for which you should move away from it—this is known as kiting. After it is done with the bite animation, you can move back in and get around three hits safely before moving back again.
By repeating this process, you can significantly lower the Tiger Shark’s health, and finally, kill it. Once you’re more familiar with the process you can return from this battle unscathed.
