Hogwarts Legacy has many exciting questlines to complete other than the main quests. The Centaur and the Stone side quest is one of those. The main goal of this quest is to retrieve a moonstone from Moonstone Garden with the help of Poppy Sweeting.
Poppy Sweeting is one of the main character’s companions who has her questline that players can complete to know more about her and learn a few spells. In this guide, you will learn about how to complete the Centaur and the stone quest and also how to solve a few puzzles in Moonstone Garden to progress in the quest.
The Centaur and the Stone quest Walkthrough
To first get the quest, players will need to complete the following quests and also be level 27.
- Fire and Vice main quest
- A Dragon Debrief side quest
- Poached Egg side quest
- The poacher’s house call side quest
- Surprise Meeting side quest
After completing the above-mentioned quests, players will get the quest The Centaur and the Stone.
Players then need go to take the fast travel telepoint to Irondale Floo Flame. After teleporting, players will need to go south following the quest marker.
Note: Players can only begin this quest in the daytime so if it’s night, they need to sit in the Glowing circle to skip time.
After a little talk with Poppy, players will enter the Moonstone Garden. In the first room, there is a door on the left side but it needs to be removed with the Depulso spell. After entering the room, players will need to fight against Dugbog and defeat it.
After defeating Dugbog, enter the next room with the Depulso spell again and go through the room and collect any gold or equipment with the help of the Revelio spell.
Then players will be faced with a puzzle that they need to solve by opening stone walls and attracting moths to the mechanism. The stone doors have symbols on them and players will need to pull the hooks of the same 2 symbols to open the stone doors.
In the image above, players need to open the stone door (1) but in order to open it, they need to pull the hooks of the similar symbol panels. Panel (2) has a different symbol so players need to find the panel with a similar 2 symbols on Stone door (1) in the room and pull their hooks to open the (1) stone door.
There are 4 stone doors in the room and players need to find 2 Moths which will be inside any of the 2 doors.
Note: players can use the Revelio spell to easily find the door behind which there is a moth.
After finding both the moths and attaching them to the mechanism, players will need to use a basic spell to spin both the mechanism to fully open the next door.
After opening the door, players will need to retrieve both moths one at a time to unlock the next door. Players will need to repeat the process of attaching moths to the mechanism (1) and spinning them this time making a bridge (2).
After making the bridge, players will find another door but this required 3 Moths to open it. Just go back and retrieve the 2 Moths from the mechanism and the last one will be near the steps (use Revelio to see the green light).
Enter the door and players will find themself again facing 2 Dugbogs, defeat them and go into the water where you see a spiral. As players go near the spiral they will see the option to dive (click it) and they will be transported to another location.
After reaching the different locations, players will need to follow the quest marker and go east. Players will find many thorns (burn them with the Incendio Spell) and move forward until they find a ledge and climb it as this is where the Scholar’s Moonstone is located.
After collecting the moonstone, talk to Poppy and she will ask you to leave immediately or stay a little while. Players should stay and find all the loot in the area and then leave.
After selecting to leave, players will be transported to another location. Then just follow the marker to reach the henge where players need to place the moonstone.
Place the moonstone in the henge and a cutscene will follow. After the cutscene, collect the moonstone back from the henge and talk to Poppy. After a little talk with Poppy, the quest will end and players will be transported back to Hogwarts.
