The Deep Dark Biome is one of the latest major additions to Minecraft added in the Caves and Cliffs update series. The Deep Dark Biome or Ancient Cities which they are also called are usually located in the lowermost regions of the game. These are ancient lost civilizations that are dark and filled with dangerous mobs including the most dangerous- The Warden. As scary as the ambiance is with all the creepy sounds, the sculk, and the all-engulfing darkness, this biome also hides valuable and rare treasures which are only found upon exploration and evading The Warden.
How to Find Deep Dark Biomes Easily
While it’s easy to use the “/locate” function in the command prompt, typing “AncientCities” and teleport using the “/tp” to the coordinates of the nearest ancient city, the more organic way is certainly more enjoyable and thrilling. Ancient Cities usually spawn under the Mountain Biomes that don’t undergo erosion.
Some Easy Steps to Find and Explore the Deep Dark Biome
- Find yourself a greeny or snowy group of mountains and look for caves near or underneath them.
- Enter the caves and keep going directly below without straying from the mountain biome above you since the Ancient Cities usually spawn directly underneath them.
- Once you find traces of Sculk you’ll know you’re near and you may have to dig a little from there on.
- Keep your Night Vision potions ready since the Ancient Cities are very dark even with torches on and you’ll need Night Vision to get around comfortably.
- Look out for the Wardens that spawn from the underground if you make too much noise near a Sculk sensor.
- Have your enchanted Netherite gear on to deal with tough mobs which are lurking there.
The Deep Dark Biome added in Minecraft 1.18 are still in the same dimension as the Minecraft overworld so it doesn’t require portals to reach like the Nether. These are currently the lowest developed biomes in the game and digging only a few blocks from the Ancient Cities are the bedrocks.
