You will come across Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy in the Volcano Manor quest. While it might be a rather odd and tricky fight, it is well worth it. You will need to make your way to the battle arena of Rykard either by accepting Tanith’s offer after you finish her questline, or by fighting your way through the Manor. The boss room of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy will be beyond the mist gate.
There is a weapon next to the door to the room which is the Serpent Hunter Greatspear which is crucial for your chances of you winning the boss fight. This is what makes the fight rather odd, because you will need to use this weapon no matter what kind of build you have. The spear will be the most effective against Rykard, and while you can still use other weapons, nothing will come close to the special spear.
Defense Strategy
Once you enter the battle room, you will realise that like with most enemies, Rykard has a pattern of attacking. They will lunge at you and follow up with several attacks to catch you off guard, so you must keep a close watch and dodge at the right time. They may also spew venom at you. Block or roll to ward off each attack. When you see the boss raise their head high, they are going to plunge down at you, so make sure to run away quickly as it is an unblockable attack.
The lava earthquake attack is also particularly deadly as it cannot be jumped over. The best option you have is to use a shield that is highly resistant to fire damage so that you take the least possible amount of damage.
When Rykard uses their sword they will stab multiple times and occasionally use long sweeps and thrust attacks which are long-range, so make sure to dodge out of sight. They will also throw flaming skulls at you.
Attack Strategy
Circle the enemy as you run and look for an opening to use your special Serpent Hunter Greatspear. It has a fairly long range for a spear and all you need to do is poke at the beast. Once they enter the second phase of their attack after losing half of their health, Rykard will begin to use a sword. The strategy is still the same as you need to keep looking for opportunities to poke your spear in, and you can additionally summon spirits or use the Mimic Tear to poke at them with two spears.
