Challenges can be availed only when referees blow their whistles. This stops the game at once, and you can use challenges. It is worth noting that you cannot use challenges while the basketball game is in session. You will need to wait for the referee to call out with their whistle to stop the game.
If you want to challenge the call of the referee, all you need to do is push the Touchpad on PlayStation, the View Button on Xbox, and the Minus symbol on the Nintendo Switch. The challenge screen will appear, and you will be able to choose from the following two options.
