Fontaine, like every other region, comes with its own set of regional puzzles that players can solve for funsies to obtain valuable treasure. Since Fontaine is based on industrial-era France and has a rather refined Steampunk aesthetic, a lot of Fontaine is more technologically advanced than the rest of Teyvat. It’s thus natural to encounter more technological puzzles in this nation compared to other nations.
One such puzzle is located in the coastal area of the West Slopes of Mont Automnequi in Fontaine and in this guide we’ll tell you how to solve it.
How To Solve The Coastal Puzzle in the West Slopes of Mont Automnequi
This puzzle is one based on Water Volume Detection Crystals which are special devices that light up in response to Hydro. To solve these puzzles you have to get all 3 of these devices wet and lit up at the same time. The location of this puzzle is indicated below:
You can find these devices across the coastal area marked in red and there’s a precious chest in the location of the blue pointer which is unlocked once you solve this puzzle. Solving this puzzle is easy as you just need to follow some simple steps.
You may have to defeat some Tainted Hydro Phantasms guarding these devices first. All 3 of these devices are surrounded by Hydrograna and you’ll have to collect 3 of them to create an AoE field of Hydro around you similar to Nilou’s E state. Once you have a field of Hydro, you can start with the Northmost device in the area as that’s the only one unlocked from the beginning.
As it lights up, it will start moving on its own and you have to move alongside it to ensure it remains within the field of Hydro around you. The same goes for the other 2 devices which will unlock consecutively and all of them will move and converge in the same location on the coast.
All 3 of them will then together move towards the position of the blue pointer. You have to strategically place yourself to ensure your Hydro field covers all of these devices at once since otherwise one of them will stop glowing and you’ll be stuck.
They will stop near the Precious Chest in the area and will unlock it for you to reap its rewards. This might seem a difficult puzzle at first since the Water Volume Detection Crystals are placed quite far apart so you will have to move around a bit with patience to solve this one.
