Modern Warfare 2 is still in early access beta for the PS5, and users are already reporting matchmaking issues with the game. We still have the open cross-play beta. Several players have reported that they cannot get past the matchmaking screen as they are interrupted by the Modern Warfare 2 error code 2004 error cause 10. The error message reads, “A matchmaking lobby error has occurred; please retry the operation. Error cause: 10. Error Code: 2004.” Hitting exit takes you back to the matchmaking screen, and reattempting the same things leads to the error again. It’s frustrating, but we have some fixes that the user can try.
Fix Modern Warfare 2 Matchmaking Lobby Error
While there can be many causes for this error, such as the servers going down, at the time, it seems to be caused by the user’s internet connection or the ISP in particular. If you cannot play new multiplayer games, it is worth checking that the correct ports are forwarded and experimenting with playing the game via another ISP. Here are some solutions we suggest you try to fix the MW2 matchmaking lobby error code 2004.
- Reboot the game, the console, or the PC – The first solution we suggest you try is to reboot the game and perform the same action. If the matchmaking still fails, try rebooting your system and then attempt to play the game.
- Try playing the game over another ISP or mobile internet – Another possible cause of the issue may be your ISP. Try to play the game over the mobile internet and see if you can bypass the error.
- Try using a VPN – While a VPN is not recommended due to lag, you might have success with it. If the server you are playing on is too busy, the VPN can help you play the game via another server, bypassing the matchmaking lobby error.
