The Modern Warfare 2 beta is ready to be played.  The beta can be regarded as one of the last stress tests for the game because its release date is set for October 28.  Players not only experience the new Call of Duty game before it is released, but they may also assist the designers in finding fresh issues and bugs. Players may experience several problems during the beta stages, including the “Application Has Unexpectedly Stopped Working” error 0xC0000005. These bugs range from server-related faults to discrepancies in game files.

The issue was caught even on xQc’s live stream, where the player was booted from the game while still at the main menu. In the meantime, gamers can try out a few solutions until the developers release a hotfix because the mistake affects many people.

How to Fix the Error Code 0xc0000005(0) N in Modern Warfare 2

If you are experiencing this issue, you have come to the right place for a fix. We have gathered a bunch of solutions that have worked for some players. We advise you to follow the instructions we have listed below in that order.

Do Not Overclock

An error such as the 0xc0000005(0) N is expected when you have overclocked the CPU or GPU. Even if the GPU is factory overclocked, it could be an issue. For Nvidia users, you can disable the factory overclock very easily. Open the Nvidia Control Panel and click on the Help tab in the top-right corner. Now click on Debug Mode.

Disable On-Demand Texture Streaming and NVIDIA Reflex

The gaming experiences of gamers are intended to be optimized via NVIDIA Reflex and On-Demand Texture Streaming, respectively. But if the games aren’t suited, they can also lead to problems.

For some players, simply disabling these two options was sufficient to resolve the 0xC0000005 problem. The in-game graphics settings in Modern Warfare 2 allow you to disable these two options.

Check if your Drivers are Updated

Old processors and GPU drivers might bring on errors like 0xC0000005. By updating their drivers, Modern Warfare 2 gamers may be able to resolve the issue. You should try it if you haven’t updated your drivers.

Restarting your computer is a good idea after updating your drivers. Try starting Modern Warfare 2 first after turning your system back on before launching anything else.

Shader Quality should be set to Low

Shader Quality makes Modern Warfare 2 more realistic, but increasing it too much can result in the 0xC0000005 problem during the beta. One user found that lowering their Shader Quality repaired the 0xC0000005 bug. Players can change their Shader Quality settings through the game’s graphics options.

Perform Scan and Repair / Verify the Integrity of Game Files

If there is corruption or missing game files, that could also be an issue and lead to an error in the game. Go to the launcher where you bought the game, B.Net or Steam, and verify the game files for any missing files or corruption.

Check RAM Usage and Reboot PC

You can get the error if there is an issue with your RAM or if it’s insufficient to play the game. Try to remove the RAM from the slot and replug it. Also, monitor the RAM usage when you are launching the game. Try to reboot the PC and then launch the game. You may have to try a few times.

Full-screen mode for Modern Warfare 2

Players regularly tab out of games and choose from windowed borderless or borderless resolution settings. Even though it is unknown what is causing the error code 0xC0000005, some players were still able to enter a match by switching to full-screen mode.

This remedy does not, however, work for everyone, as some players have reported that going to full-screen did not eliminate error 0xC0000005. Even so, it’s among the quicker and simpler fixes to attempt, and if it resolves the issue, you can enter a match.

Limit Menu Framerate and Play the Game as Administrator

To access all the files necessary to provide a seamless gaming experience, most games demand full access. To make sure that problem 0xC0000005 isn’t occurring because of a permission conflict, launch Modern Warfare 2 as an administrator.

Set a framerate cap for the Modern Warfare 2 menu after starting the game in administrator mode to prevent your PC from running out of resources. Giving the best performance during the menu stage will wear out your PC and increase the risk of errors.
That was all for this guide on fixing the Modern Warfare 2 error code 0xc0000005(0) N. As more information becomes available, we will update this post, so be sure to check out this post later.
