The error code NIAMEY-LEE appears after the recent update for PS5, and it states that to continue the player should reset their ranks and all unlocks since the downloaded data is corrupt or couldn’t download properly. Before you can go ahead and reset your game files, you should try this simple fix found by Reddit user breakxr. To fix the NIAMEY-LEE error, you should click on the Settings button, then head over to the settings tab and select any settings subcategory. Once you are in, click on the circle button on the controller to exit settings. This brought users to the campaign mission they were in before the update.
It is best not to load back into the main menu once you reach the campaign missions, as some users reported the game crashing when they tried to go back to the main menu. Also, to avoid the game freezing, it is best to restart your mission before you can go ahead.
Besides the above fix, you can also try some of the possible tips below to bypass the error in Modern Warfare 2.
- Repair Game Files: Head over to the PS5 settings and click on the gear icon at the top right. From there, click on storage > games and apps > MW2 > Delete and reinstall
- Clear Cache: Shut down the console and unplug it from its socket. Wait for a minute or two, plug it back in, then start the console.
- Check Server Status: If the game servers are down, then you will face issues trying to log in. You can check the server status of MW2 online.
- Check Network Connectivity: If your network is causing problems, you can reset your router, change networks, use an Ethernet cable, or switch to a mobile hotspot.
