Enshrouded is one of the latest survival role-playing games by Keen Games. Though the game doesn’t really have a complicated gameplay or style, still newcomers may require some help before they start their journey. It is impossible to guide one through all the features of the game, but in this guide, we will try to give you an overview of all the early and mid-game features, so you don’t feel it hard initially and have time to get prepared for the hardship of the late game. So, let’s start the journey with the survival system of the game.
Survival System in Enshrouded- Gathering Food and Other Required Items
While starting a survival game, players must be careful of the survival mechanism of the game, as it will be the key to progress further. If you have played survival games before, you are well aware that these games have different status effects like hunger, cold, hot, tired, etc. Players must take care of these status effects to progress through the game without succumbing to these status effects.
Fortunately, Enshrouded doesn’t have any of these to take care of. The only thing that you should be careful of is your comfort level, which is essentially connected to your hunger level that you must maintain by collecting and cooking food. Players can collect food by different means, but the easiest one is to kill animals. Place a campfire anywhere to cook the food and consuming cooked food will give your character’s health a substantial boost.
If you don’t find raw meat to cook, you can collect fruits and vegetables for the same purpose. Strawberries and Hazelnuts are great for health replenishment. However, we recommend having a good habit of eating food to fill your health and having water to boost your stamina before you go out to explore. Additionally, you can carry food and water for emergencies.
While eating food, you should note one thing you can eat three different foods simultaneously to give three stats a boost. Also, it is better if you don’t consume raw meat. They sometimes affect you negatively and can give you poison effects. To make your journey safer, let us suggest some excellent recipes that you must try:
Grilled Wolf Meat
- Wolves are one of the easiest animals to locate and kill in Enshrouded. You can take down wolves with the simplest weapons and collect enough meat. Once collected, place it on a Campfire and your recipe will be ready within a few seconds. Consuming Grilled Wolf Meat will grant players +2 Constitution that lasts for 20 minutes.
Grilled Lean Meat
- Lean Meat can’t be found by killing any specific animal. Instead, kill random small animals to get the raw meat and cook it on Campfire to make Grillen Lean Meat. It provides +1 Constitution for 20 minutes.
Meat Wrap
- This one is a comparatively strong meat recipe that requires several different ingredients, including a Farmer. Other ingredients include 3x Red Mushrooms, 1x Water, 1x Raw Sand Digger Meat, and 1x Flour. This recipe grants +5 Constitution and +1 Intelligence and the effect lasts for 45 minutes.
Apart from these, you can make and consume a few other fruit recipes like Purple Berries, Grilled Yucca Fruit, Chamomile Tea, etc., to boost your Stamina, Endurance, Heath Regeneration, etc. Food is one of the key things that you need in the game. You can’t survive longer without food. So, based on your level, you have to cook these foods and maintain your stats.
Enshrouded Gathering System Explained- How to Make Weapons
Another essential thing to survive in any survival game is weapons. From the very beginning of a survival game, you need to get weapons, initially the basic ones and then upgraded ones as you progress. Even collecting resources requires weapons and at the initial stages, players can only get Axe and Pickaxe. To craft an Axe, players must have 4x Twigs, 1x Stone, and 1x String. Crafting an Axe will help you chop down trees faster.

The next thing you can get is a Pickaxe. To craft it, players must collect 4x Twigs, 1x Stone, and 1x String. Crafting a pickaxe will help players to gather stones and dirt from a small radius, automatically. Once you have these weapons ready, start exploring the map and destroy structures, barrels, chests, crates, fences, panelings, furniture, and more to gather resources.
When talking about the necessary resources, let’s talk about a few of them and where players can get these things:
Clay
Let’s start with one of the most important resources of the game, Clay. Clay can be found in the north of Ancient Vault Farmer. Though that’s not the only location to gather clay, still this location is one of the gurenteed spots to get Clay. Clay can easily be spotted next to mountains and big rocks. Players can easily gather them using a pickaxe. However, if you are confused about locating them, let me tell you these resources have a unique brownish-orange color that makes them different than others.
Once you gather clay, visit your base and talk to your carpenter about crafting Clay Smelter, Mortar, Crucible, and many other decorative items to give your base a different look.
Amber
Amber is a pretty tough resource to locate in Enshrouded. If you are struggling to find it, that’s normal. Check out this guide for the locations. Amber can be found in some specific locations: the first location you can check is the Shroud northeast of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. The next one must be the Shroud south of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. So, basically, you have to explore the Revelwood Ancient Spire to find Amber.
Inside the Shrouds, you can see Amber sticking to the pillars or walls of the structures. It has a unique orange color and smooth structure, so players can easily identify it whenever spotted.
Once you get Amber, get back to your base and you can craft Fireball II and Eternal Fireball Staff Charges. Apart from these, players need Amber to strengthen the Flame to level 4. It requires 15x Amber.
Copper
Copper is one of the basic materials but it is one of the strongest materials found in the game. Copper can be found randomly in different locations, but the gurenteed ones are the following: north of the Farmer’s shelter and east of the Ancient Spire- Low Medows. Besides these two locations, almost all the dungeons of Enshrouded have a chance to have copper.
Shroud Cores
The next resource that players must find in the game is the Shroud Cores. However, these are not early-game items that players can find randomly here and there. Instead, they are almost like Shroud Spores. But there’s a difference between these two items. While the latter can be dropped by most enemies upon defeat, Shroud Cores can only be found by defeating higher-level bosses and Wraiths. Anyways, if you are looking for it in the early stages of the game, complete the Clear the Elixir Well quest that unlocks Blacksmith. During this quest, you will defeat the Thunderbrute boss to get your first Shroud Core.
This process will take a lot of a lot of time as not every boss you kill will drop Shroud Cores. So, the best process to complete the task is to craft it. The recipe for Shroud Core will be unlocked once you get the Alchemist. This will solve all your headaches.
If you have been harvesting resources and getting anxious about them getting emptied, let me tell you, that won’t be the case as the game has an in-built mechanism where reloading the game refreshes the resources. So, even if you collect all the amber or copper from a specific location, the next time you launch the game, all the resources will be filled up. This feature will help players to have a consistent resource supply.

These are the things that you must be aware of when you start your Enshrouded journey. The more you play the game, the more you will explore different features, crafting recipes and resources. Players can even craft a glider, and a grappling hook to traverse through the world faster. However, these recipes will unlock eventually as you progress through the story.
