Diablo is one of the most popular games and naturally there are still a lot of players who do not want to migrate to the latest or the previous version of Windows. Due to the lack of security updates and MS basically abandoning the Windows 7 OS, more and more games do not support games on the OS, but even when the Win 7 is not mentioned in the specifications, there are many games that run on the OS. So, the natural question that may arise is can you run Diablo 4 on Windows 7 or 8. We will answer that question in this post as well as the Diablo 4 Windows Version not supported error.
Can you Run Diablo 4 on Windows 7 & 8
When Diablo 2 Resurrected first came out, you could not run the game on Windows 7, but there soon came workarounds that allowed players to run the game on Windows 7. Later down the line, Diablo 2 Resurrected started to work on Windows 7 without any third-party assistance.
The minimum official operating system requirement to run the game is OS: 64-bit Windows 10 Version 1909. At the time, you cannot run the beta if you have an outdated Windows 10 or an operating system before that. So, to play the game you must have the latest build of Windows 10 or 11.
This may change later when the game finally comes out, but at the time there is no workaround. We will keep an eye out and update the post if we find a way to run the game on older OS.
Fix Diablo 4 Windows Version Not Supported Error
You will get this error for the same reason as above. As the game does not allow you to run on OS below Windows 10, you are greeted with this error. The simplest fix is to update the OS to the latest Windows 10 or 11 and enjoy the game.
If you are on the latest Windows Build, reinstalling the Battle.Net client may fix the Diablo 4 Windows version not supported error. A user on the Blizzard forum, reinstalled the client twice to fix the error.
The closed beta is currently in progress and there is an upcoming open beta that is free to participate. The open beta for Diablo 4 starts on the 24th of March.
