Before you begin, recruit Shadowheart in your party and give her the Spear of Night from the Silent Library. This is a crucial item to consider when making your decisions. After your fight with Balthazar, talk to Nightsong to get the following options.
Killing Nightsong
You can kill Nightsong yourself, or let Shadowheart destroy her using the Spear of the Night. If you kill Nightsong, Shadowheart might not forgive you, and she will leave your party for good. If you leave the killing to Shadowheart, your chances of romantically dating her significantly increase.
Killing Nightsong will give you the rare Dark Justice armor set and Shar’s Spear of Evening legendary weapon. But killing Nightsong will have some repercussions. Isobel, Dammon the Blacksmith, Jaheira, and Art Cullagh will be affected by Nightsong’s death, possibly dying themselves. This will lock you out of several key moments, and you cannot recruit Jaheira and Halsin after that. Also, since the Blacksmith is also dead, you cannot purchase Infernal Iron and progress through Karlach’s romance.
Save Nightsong
You need to pass the Charisma check in order to convince Shadowheart to drop her weapon. If you save Nightsong, you will receive the rare Moonlight Glaive and Selune’s Spear of Night legendary weapon. The only difference here is that it will be difficult or near impossible to romance Shadowheart later on, as she will be distraught by your choice. Also, defeating the Ketheric Thorm boss will be easier after saving Nightsong.
