To heal in Age of Wonders 4, you have to place your wounded troops within your city border. You will know you are inside your city when the borders are green. Each time your troop stands within it, they will regenerate 25 health. Of course, this is not the only way, and if you are too far from your city then you have to wait it out. Even if the troop is not within the city border, they will regenerate health, but at a slower pace. They will get 5 HP if healing outside their domain.
Another way to quickly heal your units is by using spells. You can look into the Tome spells to know which ones will help heal your troops. Usually, Nature Tome will have a bunch of attributes that will help you heal units. The Tome of Faith has the Army Heal spell which will quickly heal all troops, and acquiring certain wands in the overworld will also help with healing. There are also spells your Hero can use while in combat to boost their HP, but these will be lost once the battle is over. You have to go through all the various skills and spells and equip the ones that will help with healing your troops.
