There are a few areas where you can get an abundance of clay. You have to explore the riverbank with your pickaxe to find clay. They are usually identified as brown lumps on the ground, and using the pickaxe can help you mine some. The best place to find some clay is to go to the little stream south of Sosogi. If you have completed the task of building a bridge here, then you can cross it. After crossing the stream, head up the hill here till you reach the first flattened terrain. There is construction happening just east of this place. Head over there and you will find patches of clay on the floor. Use different pickaxe types to farm the clay.
You can also visit the village north of Sosogi and talk to the villagers there. Sometimes you will get certain resources after talking to them and completing small quests. Once you have acquired enough clay, you can store them in your inventory for further use. Sometimes you will require stone or iron pickaxes to mine different patches of clay, so be sure to craft those first before you go ahead and try to get clay.
