As you explore the Hollow in the Druid Grove (X:248 – Y:557), you will encounter a young merchant child. He will show you a small trick, and even offer to explore his store. You can look at his trick, then visit his store and buy anything you need. If you pass the perception check, you will find that your loot bag is lighter than usual. You will also notice a second child running away.
Getting down the ladder quickly led to a dead end. You can get back up and talk to Mattis, but it won’t help. Then, go forward (X:226 – Y:550) and you will find another child, Doni, near the crates. To talk with him, use a character who is high in wisdom perception. If you turn around, the child will disappear. But you will notice a hatch where the child left. From here, there are two ways to enter the small underground tunnel.
How to enter the Tiefling Hideout in Baldur’s Gate 3
After investigating the hatch, take a long rest. After waking up, Doni will reappear. Pick someone who has a lot of wisdom. Choose the insight perception option to get the next set of dialogs. After that, select the perception option if you have a high charisma check. If not, you can pay Doni some gold to get inside the hideout.
If you fail all the checks, there is another way to get inside. Complete the Investigate the Beach side quest from Kagha in Emerald Grove, found next to the Sacred Pool (through the door at X:224 Y:527). You will save Arabella from a Harpie. If you haven’t completed this side quest before, there will be additional checks and probably some gold to hand out. Keep the boy alive during the fight, and at the end you will receive the Dragon’s Lair password. Talk to Doni after this and select the Dragon’s Lair option to gain access.
Talk to Mol
Mol is the leader of the child thieves, and once you enter the Dragon’s Lair, you can find and talk to her. If you have high intelligence and charisma, you can persuade and threaten her to get your things back. You can also pay gold if you like. After getting your things back, she will show you a gesture you can learn to avoid robbery again.
