Like most ranking-up requirements, for S+ rank too you need to beat the clock. There is a time limit, wherein you need to complete the entire gameplay before you reach the limit. But to make things worse, you cannot continue the gameplay in NG+ like how it was for the other ranks in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Rather, you need to start the game in a new save, and complete the game within the following time slots.
- Assisted Difficulty – Under four hours.
- Standard Difficulty – Under five hours.
- Hardcore Difficulty – Under five and a half hours.
- Professional Difficulty – Under five and a half hours with 15 manual saves allowed. No autosave is available.
Tips on Getting S+ Rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Unlock the toughest weapons asap
The Hand Cannon, Chicago Sweeper, and other sturdy weapons can help you eliminate bosses rather quickly. This will help shorten the time it takes to beat the chapters, so try to unlock them at the earliest. Also, after recovering Ashley, do unlock the Suit of Armor for her to avoid getting kidnapped and take damage less frequently.
Upgrade your weapons
If you are about to meet an unavoidable enemy or boss, it is best to have the toughest weapon you own upgraded to the max. You need to deal as much damage as possible quickly to advance through the story before the time limit ends
Skip side quests, optional puzzles, and collectibles
The game will not count any side quests, puzzles, and collectibles, so unless they are unavoidable, you don’t have to find them around the Island, Village, and Castle areas.
Sneak your way around
You can avoid confrontation by just sneaking around and staying within the shadows. Some of the enemy encounters are unnecessary and you will end up wasting time trying to get rid of them. Sneak or stealth your way across the levels to ease up on finding and battling monsters.
Run away when you can
Some enemy encounters can be avoided by running away if you cannot sneak past them. You should save your strength and ammo for the bosses and enemies that are compulsory to fight off.
For all your efforts, you can unlock the Cat Ear accessory at the end of your run, which will give you the infinite ammo perk.
