The final Quintessential Blade Material in Valor Mortis can be found in a secret room in the Fortress. Reaching it requires collecting all seven Mysterious Stone Pyramids from the Eternal Guards mini-bosses. This guide explains how to unlock the hidden entrance near the Courtyard Lantern and claim the last material from its chest.
All Quintessential Blade Materials
In Valor Mortis, melee weapons are dependent on four Blade Materials: Crude, Pure, Distilled, and Quintessential. The first three types of materials are for basic, advanced, and upgradation levels, while Quintessential Blade Materials are for ultimate upgrades.
There are only three Quintessential Blade Materials in the game: one in The Outskirts and two in the Fortress. The last material is behind a secret door which can be opened only after defeating the seven Eternal Guards.
Doing all upgrades of any one melee weapon also grants the player the Bladesmith Trophy/Achievement.
1. Find the First Material in The Outskirts
Nearest Lantern: Lighthouse
The first Quintessential Blade Material is located in a chest in the Lighthouse underground area. Head to the room where you fought the Experiment 83 boss to find it.
2. Retrieve the Second Material From the Fortress Sewers
Nearest Lantern: Ramparts
In order to obtain the second material, begin at the Ramparts Lantern site and go back to the area where you see the blue pole that allows you to swing. Here you must use the pole to get through the door on the left.
After coming into the room, you have to crawl below the spider web and go down the stairs. Go inside the green room located on the right side and you will find the second Quintessential Blade Material inside the chest.
3. Open the Secret Room for the Final Material
Nearest Lantern: Courtyard
The final Quintessential Blade Material takes you to a concealed chamber at the Fortress. In order to enter, you must possess all seven of the Mysterious Stone Pyramids, which may be found by defeating the Eternal Guards mini-bosses. By obtaining all seven, you create the Mysterious Stone Slab.
When you reach the Lantern in the Courtyard, enter the big building on the left and walk to the end of a long corridor. Find the symbol of the Eternal Guards that will be engraved on the wall next to a hidden door.
To enter the hidden room, apply the Mysterious Stone Slab on the symbol. The last Quintessential Blade Material can be found inside one of the chests located on the right.
Once you have all three materials, the complete Quintessential Blade Material will become accessible. Use them to upgrade a melee weapon to its maximum level and unlock the Bladesmith Trophy/Achievement.
