Among first-person shooter fans, Call of Duty titles have become virtually synonymous with nonstop action. The series is known for its relatively fast TTK, allowing you to eliminate enemies pretty quickly compared to other games of the same category before they can respawn and rejoin the fight.
Battle royale games, on the other hand, are much longer and have no respawns (apart from the ability to revive your eliminated teammates or win your Gulag). Some players are complaining that Warzone‘s TTK is too fast for a battle royale.
In an online discussion, one player claimed the game is not playable as a Battle Royale”, drawing comparisons to the Call of Duty series’ hardcore mode, which reduces players’ health to 30. This essentially means that you or any other player would get knocked out after getting shot once or twice.
Similar sentiments were expressed by another player, who said, “I think at the moment it requires a bit more tuning. Waaaay too fast… like playing multiplayer. I was coming out of the building and was “peaking” literally was killed in a second (3 plates) by the guy in front of me and I didn’t even realize he was right in front.. definitely needs some tuning, feels a bit more like multiplayer and would give a bit more chance to re-engage. I was slowly peaking and getting out of doors, did not even have time to get back behind the wall before I was deleted.”
Some players have pointed out that the TTK in Warzone 2.0 might not be the culprit of this terrible experience, rather, in their opinion, the net code, servers, and tick rate is not good enough to support this TTK. A person suggested that one way to rectify this issue would be to “improve the servers or increase the TTK.”
For the time being, armor is the most crucial aspect of TTK in Warzone. Even though armor greatly lessens the impact of incoming fire, a player is limited to equipping only three pieces at any given time. An increase to four is possible, but it would have far-reaching consequences for factors like drop rates, the usefulness of armor satchels, etc. There is also the simpler option of lowering weapons’ damage output or altering the fire rates of these weapons.
Although many players believe that Warzone’s TTK could be lowered, the game’s lightning-fast speed and the possibility for talented players to wipe out whole opposing squads make it a compelling alternative. It’s possible that any drastic adjustment to TTK would have very impactful consequences.
