The Thundersoother artifact set has been in the game since the very beginning but it’s never been of much use except in niche builds and situations. Electro is known for its reactions and so people preferred the Thundering Fury set more for general use. Sumeru is almost here to change all that. With the introduction of the Dendro element and Dendro reactions, the Thundersoother set might finally be useful.
Dendro and Electro in Genshin Impact 3.0
Dendro reactions have already been officially confirmed and the primary Dendro reaction with Electro or vice-versa is going to be Quicken. Quicken isn’t necessarily a reaction but more like a status- similar to Burning and Freeze. Applying Electro or Dendro to Quicken will trigger Aggravate and Spread respectively which will damage opponents.
These triple-reactions and Quicken are key to the new use of the Thundersoother element. Since Quicken will persist as a status on the opponent for a considerable time, applying electro over that will be easy and since this application will persist, the second passive of Thundersoother can be comfortably used to dish out tons of damage.
The 4-set bonus of Thundersoother increases damage against enemies affected by electro by 35%. This set is best used on characters like Fischl and Yae Miko who apply tons of electro quickly. With this set on, their damage is expected to double when the Dendro element is involved in the mix. We already know that many element-specific sets are getting a rework to also include Dendro-reactions in the mix.
Both Electro and Pyro have two dedicated artifact sets with one of them increasing and focusing on increasing mono-elemental damage. The Thundersoother is one such set- it requires a quick electro applier like Keqing who can stay on-field and dish out tons of damage to electro-affected enemies. It would seem we can do the same with some other fan-favorite electro units like Fischl and Yae Miko in the upcoming Version 3.0
In Version 3.0, we’re expecting to see much more of Fischl and Yae in the land of Sumeru- not to mention other electro characters. Dendro could be seen as an indirect buff to the electro element and especially this artifact set which is surely going to see more use when Sumeru finally drops and Dendro is released into Tevyat.
