There are three forms of currency in the game, which are Gold, Platinum and Eternal Orbs.
Gold
Gold is the common form of currency in the game which cannot be purchased with real money. It can be earned by completing game tasks such as killing enemies and doing missions.
Platinum
Platinum can be purchased with real money, but can also be earned by completing special tasks in the game. You can buy powerful items through transactions with Platinum.
Eternal Orbs
These are the microtransaction currency of the game which can be used to get ahead the farthest by buying the most valuable items in the game. You can only buy them using real money.
While Diablo Immortal has some options to purchase currency in the game, it is completely optional and can be done only if the player wants to get ahead on gameplay, like most mobile games. The game can be played without using real money as well.
