Call of Duty Vanguard is one of the most optimized games in terms of performance. The game suffered through some performance problems during the beta on Xbox devices, but that’s been hammered by the devs. Even with well-optimized games, there are times when it can stutter due to wrong configuration or PC settings. Keep reading and we will share some of the things you can do to fix the Vanguard stuttering, lag, and FPS drop.
Call of Duty Vanguard Stuttering, Lag, and FPS Drop Fix
A drop in the frame rate and stuttering goes hand in hand, but that is not the case all the time. In this post, we will share steps to help boost the FPS if that’s the cause of stutter as well as share other settings and apps that can cause Vanguard stutter, lag, and FPS drop. Here is a list of things you need to ensure.
- Update the graphics card driver to the latest version available. Do not use the Device Manager to update the driver. Visit the manufactures website and search for the latest driver.
- Ensure that your internet connection is ideal. Reboot the internet device or reset the device. This simple step can fix the Vanguard lag and any stutter that may be happening due to connection problem.
- Run the game in Fullscreen mode. Any other mode can cause the stuttering. Also, try to enable the V-Sync from the game settings and see if that makes a difference. If you already have it enabled, try disabling it.
- Enable Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling. Go to Windows Key + I > System > Display > Graphics > click on Change default graphic settings > turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling.
- Overlays cause stuttering in a lot of games. Ensure that the Discord and GeForce Experience overlays are disabled.
- Enable the Game Mode. Press Windows Key + I, go to Gaming > Game Mode.
- Do not record videos while playing the game. Disable the option to record games from the Capture settings of the Gaming Section in Windows Settings. While you are there, also disable the Xbox Game Bar.
- Disable Control Flow Guard for the game’s executable
- Before you disable it, you should know more about it as it’s important for your security. Disabling the Control Flow Guard will instatly boost your FPS and reduce stutter, but don’t do it globally as it will put your system at risk. Control Flow Guard is an exploit protection feature, so it’s very important. Here is how to set exception for game’s executable on COntrol Flow Guard.
- Open ‘Virus & threat protection’ > go to ‘Apps & browser control’ > click on ‘Exploit Protection Settings’ > toggle ‘Program Settings’ > click the plus icon ‘Add porgram to customize’ > choose ‘Add by program name’ > paste ‘exact executable name’ > scroll on the new window to find Control flow guard (CFG) and check Override system settings > click Apply > Yes.
- If the stuttering happens when you interact with the mouse, set the mouse polling rate to 120.
- Set CoD Vanguard at High Priority. To do it, open Task Manager > More Details > Details > Right click on Vanguard.exe > Set Priority > High.
- Play the game on default settings or reduce the graphics settings by a notch. Also, do not overclock the GPU.
We hope that the Vanguard Stuttering, Lag, and FPS Drop have improved after trying the above solutions. If something worked for you, let others know in the comments so they can try that first. We will update as new solutions become known to us.
