To start the Beggar’s Tale side quest, visit the fountain in central Vernworth’s Merchant’s Quarter. You will find a beggar putting on a show. Talk to the NPCs around the area to learn more about Albert. You will be tasked with following him to various locations to expose him. Once he reaches a home in the Common Quarters, you can break in and steal his beggar’s garb. You now have a choice to make. You can either hand over the beggar’s garb to his mistress, Celina, or to his wife, Hilda. You also have a third choice, to hand over the garb to Albert himself and blackmail him for some cash.

Give the garb to Celina

You can find Celina in Walter’s Tavern in the slums. She is the beastren barmaid there who Albert is having a fling with. If you hand over the beggar’s garb to her, she will be distraught and will ask you to let her be. If you wait a few days and return to her location, you will get news that both Albert and Celina are dead. You will get no rewards from this outcome

Give the garb to Hilda

Head over to Noble Quarters’ Baldwin Estate. Speak to Hilda inside the quarters and show her the garb. She will get upset that Albert is still up to no good and will try to talk to him. You can come back after a few days to get 3x Onyx, which can be sold for under 3,000 gold each if sold to any vendor in Vermund. You will also be informed that Albert has changed his ways and found himself a proper job

Give the garb to Albert

You can find Albert roaming around the fountain again. Talk to him and show him the beggar’s garb, and he will beg you not to expose him. In return, he will give you 5,000 gold, provided you don’t tell about his gig to his two lovers. He will go back to begging once he gets his attire back

To get the most rewards from this quest, it is best to talk to Hilda and expose Albert this way. Onyx is a valuable resource, and you can farm a lot of gold by selling each of them. This is the optimal outcome that you can get for this quest
