Elden Ring is one of the biggest RPG releases of the year, with players fighting tough monsters and collecting their weapons in order to become the Elden Lord. This guide will take you through the process of how to get the Rotten Staff in Elden Ring.
How to Get the Rotten Staff in Elden Ring
There are a lot of weapon types in Elden Ring, and staffs are just one of them. The Staff of the Avatar has a counterpart called the Rotten Staff, which in addition to dealing Physical Damage raises the Scarlet Rot levels of your enemies and causes them to lose health over time.

The Rotten Staff is good for enemies that are harder to plough down, and the interesting thing about it is that you can get the Rotten Staff by killing an Erdtree Avatar with their own weapon which you might already have—the Staff of the Avatar. But first, you will need to pin down the location of the Erdtree Avatar that will drop the Rotten Staff.
To get there, you will need to travel to the Haligtree by solving the puzzle at Ordina, Liturgical Town. There are four statues in this region that you will also need to light, and only when this is complete you will be able to access the portal that takes you to the Haligtree.
Enter the Prayer Room Site of Grace where there is a Cleanrot Knight waiting for you just outside the room. It won’t be too difficult to take him out, and once that is done, you will need to continue to the stairs and get down to the lower ledge. Around this location, there will be an Erdtree Avatar patrolling the wall that you will need to kill.
Once you have killed the monsters, you will receive the Rotten Staff as a reward. This weapon is a Colossal Weapon that can be further upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones. You will need Strength 34 and Dexerity 8 to wield it.
