There is a setting you can tweak that will help you switch between real time and turn based. By default, the game is set to turn based mode. To change it permanently to real time mode, you can head into your settings menu and scroll down to find the Battle Settings option. Switch it from Turn Based to Real Time. Also, you can quickly change between modes by clicking on the button on the topmost left corner. You should note that you cannot change modes during battle, and switching modes can be done during general gameplay.
Having Real Time mode active will help your characters automatically engage in battle with the opponent. There won’t be any special animation during special attacks either, and it will be more fast paced. If you wish to have a more strategic approach to your gameplay, then you can switch to Turn Based mode. You can now select which character you want to send out and what move they should perform. This will help you better understand the combat aspect of Wandering Sword.
