Wondering whether to kill or spare the Chief Jailor in The Blood of Dawnwalker? This choice is presented in Ambrus’s Dungeons: Evil and Convenience after you investigate the blood-draining base in Briar Sloughs. The choices affect the way you earn the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash but ultimately give you the same reward.
How to Find the Chief Jailor

Ambrus’s Dungeons: Evil and Convenience features the Chief Jailor. Coen finds the jailor waiting inside a cabin after investigating the suspicious camp in the Briar Sloughs. At this point, you will have the option to kill the jailor or let him go.

The investigation begins in a camp located in Briar Sloughs, north of the Borescu Commons Shrine, where soldiers will attack Coen on sight. The soldiers have to be defeated, and after that you can examine the camp for clues such as blood barrels, a ditch filled with corpses, a pile of hay, and some bodies. The bodies have valuable loot and the Orders from Ambrus letter.
You can obtain the Torn Banner and the Instrument of Torture during your exploration from the northwest of the camp. After that, follow the blood trail to get to the torture chamber, where you will be able to talk to the soul of a deceased guard.

At the last stage of your investigation, you will need to enter the southern shed and get the key from the table. After that, get the letter from Ambrus regarding the missing blood barrels, follow the footsteps to the cabin, and unlock it.
Kill the Chief Jailor
If you decide to kill the Chief Jailor, you will have to defeat him. Afterward, you can loot his body to obtain the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash. This option allows you to take the map directly from him rather than receiving it from him.
Spare the Chief Jailor
Choosing to spare the Chief Jailor gives you the same item without killing him. He hands over the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash before leaving. Therefore, sparing him does not prevent you from accessing the hidden treasure. You still receive the map needed to locate it.
What Changes Between the Two Choices?
The difference is limited to how you obtain the treasure map:
| Choice | What Happens |
| Kill the Chief Jailor | Defeat him and loot the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash from his body. |
| Spare the Chief Jailor | He hands Coen the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash willingly. |
Both routes lead to the same map, so your decision can simply reflect how you want Coen to handle the encounter.
Find the Hidden Stash

After obtaining the Treasure Map: Hidden Stash, depart the camp and proceed north-west to reach the fallen tree. Find the stash inside the tree. You will get an amulet, some cash, and a letter from Bakir.
You can read the letter to learn that Bakir has confirmed the blood shipment was sent to Ambrus and isn’t missing after all. This letter would make sense if you had read the ledger inside the cabin earlier, which states that the blood was transported elsewhere and has gone missing.
In the end, either killing or sparing the Chief Jailor would not affect your reward. Thus, you can opt for any choice and use the map to track the hidden stash.
