One of the most useful tools in Runescape Dragonwilds is the axe. However, it is pretty straightforward to upgrade from the initial axe to a pretty good one, later in the game. You can easily acquire the first axe in the game by completing the quests. It can be used for cutting down trees, getting over the beginning quests, increasing your skills and unlocking new spells.
Logs are pretty important for building things and completing the first few missions in the game. They are an essential element for building the shelter. You can upgrade from the basic axe to a bone axe, the bronze axe or the iron axe which is significantly better at getting the job done efficiently.
How to get the Bone Axe?
Once you get an animal bone in Runescape Dragonwilds, the recipe for bone pickaxe is unlocked. You can hunt animals like Kebbit and pick up the materials to unlock the ability to craft this axe. Since hunting any animal will give you Animal Bones, it is pretty simple to get a stock of them.
After the recipe is unlocked, you need the following materials to craft the Bone Pickaxe.
- 8 Animal Bones
- 6 Ash Logs
- 4 Leather
The first two materials required to craft this item are relatively easy to acquire. However, you have to craft Leather at the Tannery, which is also unlocked by collecting Animal Bones and Hide. You have to hunt large animals for them to hide, such as Cows or Deers. The first is easy to hunt as you can simply melee them, but the latter requires a bow to hunt them down silently.
How to Craft the Bronze Axe in Runescape Dragonwilds?
Gathering Tin & Copper
Tin and Copper are hard to acquire in the early game. You must navigate to the Fractured Plains to obtain these materials. You’ll also require a Bone Pickaxe to mine these metals and since you already know how to craft that tool, it will make the entire process much easier for you. You’ll require ash logs, leather and animal bones to craft the Bone Pickaxe.
Head to Fractured Plains, located on the northern side of the Whispering Swamp. The enemies in this region are more challenging so try not to run into the area and ambush them. The enemies that you face at the start of Runescape Dragonwilds, are easier to face compared to these ones.
It’s quite easy to find the rocks that contain Copper and Tin since they’re significantly larger than the ordinary ones in that area. You’ll find Copper in gray coloured rocks while the ones with a yellowish-green appearance contains the Tin.
Making Metal Ingots
To make the Bronze Axe, you’ll need Bronze Bars. Now, use both the metals you have collected and put them inside the furnace for smelting. You’ll be able to craft Bronze ingots like this which is a necessary material for crafting the Bronze Axe.
Crafting the Axe
You must have the Smithing Forge to use the Smithing Anvil and use the following materials to craft the axe. This is easily one of the best upgrades you can have for your ordinary axe
- 24 Stone
- 8 Clay
- 4 Stone
- 10 Fire Rune
- 8 Vault Shard
Go over the tools section of the Smithing Anvil and choose the Bronze Axe. The sheer stats on this tool is insane, boasting 20 Damage and 32.5 Block. Since the blade is made of Bronze, it’s easily the most powerful upgrade from the initial axe or even the Bone Pickaxe. You can get the job done faster and more efficiently.
How to get the Iron Axe?
The Iron Pickaxe is a weapon with a Power Level of 4. You can craft this tool with the help of the Smithing Anvil. This is a crush-type weapon, and it doesn’t have anything special compared to the predecessors, except the fact that you can mine Dragon Teeth with this.
It boasts impressive stats such as 2100 durability and 39.5 block. You’ll need to have the skill Artisan with an experience level of 250 to craft this two-handed tool. To make the Iron Pickaxe in Runescape Dragonwilds, you’ll require the following materials:
- Iron Bar
- Blightwood
- Hard Leather
Now, it is pretty simple to get iron bars, and you’ll need six of them for this recipe. However, to acquire blightwood, you must explore the dangers of the Bloodblight Swamp. Trees with pale roots give this material, so try to search for them. Another material you’ll need is the hard leather, which is tougher than normal leather and is made by mixing adhesive with it. This recipe requires that the Tanner’s Kit be built and placed close to the Tannery.
