You would get the Wanted status if you are found killing civilians or their pet Pals. The PIDF will be notified of your activities, after which you can choose any of the following options to remove the Wanted Status
Flee the scene – You can try to run as far away from the crime scene as possible. Sometimes you would have to cross over several islands and seas and go into hiding till the Wanted status wears off. This can take a while and is also very hectic, as you can’t go back to your base if the crime happened somewhere near the base area. If the crime took place on some island, then you can retreat to your base and hide till the PIDF stops looking for you
Fight – If you think you can win, you can try to fight the PIDF when they arrive to arrest you. You can also kill any witnesses nearby before they report you so you never get the Wanted status at all. But you have to be quick if you are going for the latter route, as the more witnesses are around, the tougher it would be to eliminate the evidence.
Die – The quickest way to get rid of the Wanted status is to get killed. Once you revive, not only will you lose the Wanted status, but also you will lose your backpack and everything that you had carried with you. You can always check your map to find where your backpack is located and retrieve it. This option is great if you didn’t carry a lot of stuff, but can be a pain to go back and get your stuff if it is located too far away and if you have too much to carry back
