Kirara is a very desirable catgirl- for Dendro team comps of course and to use her as you please- you’ll need to build and raise her- as a playable unit. We already have articles on how to build her but as for her ascension mats, she will require the boss drops of the latest world boss- the Iniquitous Baptist- who was released in Version 3.6 of Genshin Impact.

While he has an intimidating design and his mechanics were terrifying in the trailer- he’s much more meeker than advertised and with the right team and strategy this boss can be beaten as easily as the Anemo Hypostasis. It’s all about knowing your elements for this fight so keep reading as we tell you how to beat the Baptist for the catgirl while also unlocking some hidden achievements.

Iniquitous Baptist Boss Guide in Genshin Impact 3.7

The Iniquitous Baptist can use all 4 major elements of Genshin Impact a.k.a Hydro, Cryo, Electro and Pyro. He can use shields and attacks of all corresponding elements and this is what intimidates most players. But the reality is quite different. Every day the boss can only use a combination of 3 elements so you need to construct your team comp in a way to counter at least two of the elements with your own characters. Below we’ve listed both offensive and defensive strategies to use against the boss.

Offensive

Though the boss uses shields of all 3 elements, these shields are not as tanky as that of the dreaded Abyss Heralds- though they are still just as annoying. These shields break easily when countered with their opposite element. To put it in perspective, applying the counter element 2-3 times is enough to break these shields. If you use units that apply more units of the element per hit like Bennett for Pyro or Xingqiu for Hydro, then these shields break in only two strikes.

When you begin the boss fight, he spawns elemental crystals on the floor. These need to be broken to stun the boss for 8 seconds. If you can kill the boss within these 8 seconds then you won’t have to deal with the 3 additional shields. Just like the shields, using opposite elements will break their corresponding crystal with only one hit. You can also use neutral elements like Anemo, Dendro or Geo but they will cost you more time.

The boss will take increased damage when he’s not shielded but if you miss your first 8-second window then he refuses to be one-shotted.

Defensive

The boss is best fought with a ranged DPS team because otherwise, you won’t be able to dodge many of his attacks which in turn can stagger and interrupt you if you’re not careful and not using shields.

In his Cryo state, the boss can do:

  • 5 Elemental Slashes- They are easy to avoid since they only follow a straight line.
  • Cryo Shield Explosion- If you’re in melee range the boss can curl up into a Cryo shield and explode in a small AoE which can also be dodged if you just dash out a little away from it.
  • 4 Cryo Spears- They have little to no tracking so as long as you have distance and you dodge towards one side you’ll be fine.

For Hydro his attacks are as follows:

  • 3 Hydro Slashes- run sideways to avoid as they follow a linear path.
  • 4 Waterballs- These have good tracking ability so you’ll need to dash to dodge them. Run sideways on one side so that you aren’t crowded by multiple balls.

In his Pyro state, the boss can do:

  • 4 Fireballs- These don’t have tracking so just move away from their path.
  • Pyro Eruptions- When the ground underneath you glows like a target, it’ll erupt and deal Pyro DMG- similar to what Pyro Abyss Mages can do. You’ll have to dodge them as soon as you see the red target underneath your character.

For Electro, his attacks are as follows:

  • 2 Electro Spears- These are very fast and you need to dash to dodge them.
  • Electro Beam- This one’s almost instantaneous so you need to start dashing as soon as you see his hands glow purple.
  • 3 Lightning Balls- These also don’t have tracking and can be seen coming so you can dodge them easily.

Some good general team comps can actually be Hyperbloom or Burgeon comps as they are viable team comps that require you to use at least 3 elements with one of them being the neutral element of Dendro. You can also use a combination of Taser and Vaporize with units like Yoimiya, Yanfei, Xiangling, Beidou, Fischl, Xingqiu, Yelan, Childe and so on.

Achievements in the Iniquitous Baptist Boss Fight

Just like any boss fight, this one also comes with hidden achievements. One of them is to just beat the boss for the first time and the other two have their own conditions. The Iniquitous Baptist boss gives you three achievements and we’ll list how to get them in order:

  1. When you begin the boss fight, the boss will spawn three elemental crystals. You get the first achievement when you break all 3 of these elemental crystals before time runs out.
  2. After breaking the crystals the boss is stunned and weakened for 8 seconds. If you can defeat the boss within these 8 seconds you get the second achievement. This is your only time window to one-shot the boss.
  3. If you beat the boss normally after dealing with all 3 of his elemental shields then you get the third achievement for simply beating the boss.

You can get all 3 of these achievements within at least 2 runs. If you’re having difficulty one-shotting the boss for the second achievement you can also lower your World Level and try again- or you can also co-op with a player with a lower World Level and do the same.

As easy as this boss can be to beat in the overworld, he will be a real pain in the final floors of the Spiral Abyss so you’ll want to train your best for it. With tons of HP, he can be an annoying boss to beat.
