The entire gaming community is excited after the reveal of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with a possible release in 2024. A piece of new information has surfaced that sheds light on the engine used to develop the game. Gordon Larson, a Senior Gameplay Programmer at MachineGames lists id tech and C++ as his key skills. Gordon Larson has been developing and implementing all gameplay features related to Indiana Jones’ Whip among other player-centric game mechanics.
id Tech is a proprietary game engine from ID Software earlier known as DOOM engine. A few months back there was news of id Software working on their newest version of the game engine id Tech 8. While we know that the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is being developed on id Tech, we are still unsure if it’s id Tech 7 or 8.
id Tech has had phenomenal success delivering some of the greatest titles in the past decade starting with the DOOM, Quake, and Wolfenstein series.
