The Wanderer is the second playable Fatui Harbinger and players are excited to pull for him in Version 3.3 which releases on 7th December 2022. The Wanderer has a unique aerial playstyle which will be the key to mastering his kit. As cool and convenient as that sounds, it actually has another overlooked implication which can possibly make him broken against certain enemies.
The Possibilities of Wanderer
Genshin Impact has many types of enemies. The mobs come in several roles like melee, archer, shielder, berserker and so on. The elites have a range of abilities- usually covering multiple bases and types of attacks. With the Wanderer’s hovering playstyle and a secondary stamina bar, it’s actually possible to take on many of these enemies without getting hit by any of their attacks.
Since most enemies in Genshin have melee attacks, with Wanderer you can just hover and avoid all of them while still attacking them from mid-air. While it does open his position to the archers, or aerial attacks of that height, if you take out those enemies first or dodge them as they appear, you can essentially breeze through the rest of the enemies like fodder.
Since his E skill also allows for the elemental infusion of two elements, with Electro and Hydro or Cryo and Hydro you can also theoretically keep enemies Electrocharged or Frozen throughout the fight.
Even against elite enemies, you can effectively just avoid all of their ground combos and attacks while only keeping an eye out for their aerial projectiles and attacks. We still don’t know how much resistance to interruption or superarmor the Wanderer will have in his hovering state but with a decent amount, he can be very broken not just in the overworld but also in the Spiral Abyss.
That said, this alone does not make him a meta or must-pull character by any means. It will still ultimately boil down to his damage number and how he compares to Xiao. With the release of Faruzan also alongside Wanderer, players want to see if Wanderer is only good with Faruzan’s support or if he can function as a solo Anemo DPS like Xiao.
