Talking to Toshichi after creating an adze will advance the questline further. You will now be tasked with creating a bell tower in the village. You first need to get 20 planks, then talk to Toshichi to get the bell for the bell tower. You can get planks by cutting down trees with the ax and using the adze. After you get the bell, you can now craft the Bell Tower. It is best to place the bell tower close to any resource point. This will help warn you and your villagers of outsiders, so having it close to your resources will help sound the alarm.
Having a bell tower has its perks too. You can build a new village around the bell tower, and even use it to change the seasons quickly. Later on, you can place bell towers around the map to fast travel between the areas. You should be sure of where you wish to place the bell tower, as they cannot be demolished once constructed.
