One of the newest shoulder pets, which has been added through the expansion Genesis Part 1, is a parrot. Although they might appear to be small companion birds, they have a number of useful skills, which include treasure hunting, increasing your crafting skill level, and imitating other players around you. The only drawback is that their taming takes a lot of time. In this guide, we will tell you where to find Parrots and how to tame them using the different methods available.
How To Tame A Parrot

Parrots are most often found within the Ocean Biome in Genesis Part 1. These creatures tend to spawn near:
- Small islands
- Shallow waters along the coastline
- Rivers and lakes
- Areas surrounding the ocean
Their colouring blends into their surroundings, which makes them quite hard to spot. The good side is that these creatures spawn in groups, meaning that if you find one, there are likely others nearby.
Summoning a Parrot
To summon the Parrot anywhere on the map, you should install the Genesis Ascended (Genesis Part 1) first. Once done, you can spawn it using admin commands. If it is okay for you to get a random-level Parrot, use this command: SummonTamed Parrot_Character_BP_C. However, if you wish to define Parrot’s level yourself, use this command and replace <level> with your desired level number: GMSummon “Parrot_Character_BP_C” <level>. For instance, inputting 150 as the level would summon a level 150 Parrot, which is tamed already.
The level of this Parrot does not matter much, so a Parrot of a low level is also good. When you find a Parrot, you should stand nearby and perform an emote. Pretty much any emote works; after some time, the Parrot will fly and land on the player’s shoulder. Once this happens, the taming process starts. You get one hour to make enough taming progress so that the bird does not fly off.
Treasure Map Bottles

One way of taming the Parrot is through finding treasures. To begin with, get a Treasure Map Bottle, which can be obtained from the beach area. This bottle provides information about where the buried treasure chest is located, and all you have to do is dig out this chest using a shovel.
All you need to do is open three or four such treasure chests in order to successfully tame the parrot. The good thing about this method is that you can prepare the treasure chest locations before taming the parrot. The downside is that Treasure Map Bottles are fairly rare and only appear on beaches, so finding enough of them can take some time.
Kill Alpha Creatures

The next way involves defeating Alpha mobs while the Parrot is riding on your shoulder. With each Alpha defeated, the Parrot will gain experience in its taming process. Larger Alphas offer lots of experience to tame the Parrot, but generally, you have to defeat multiple high-level Alphas for the Parrot to be tamed completely. The good news is that the Parrot stays on your shoulder the entire time, even if you swim underwater, making this method easier if you are already hunting Alphas.
Complete a Pirate Island Event

The most reliable way to do it is by going through the Pirate Island event, but it also takes the longest time. First, go to the Pirate Island, where there is no difficulty finding wild parrots. Once you get one on your shoulder, travel to a nearby lighthouse. You can either choose a Gamma or Alpha event, but Gamma is easier for most people. In this event, you have to do the following:
- Blow up the pirate ships located on the island.
- Take down the artillery towers.
- Battle the mobs of pirates.
- Gather dynamite from the dead enemies.
- Put the dynamite on the explosive points marked on the map.
- Kill the boss.
Once you kill the boss, the whole island will explode, revealing some treasure chests. Opening around three or four of these treasure chests is usually enough to fully tame the Parrot.
Parrot Abilities
Like any other shoulder pets, the Parrot will ride your shoulder as you go exploring. Its unique talent allows you to identify nearby loot and important targets. It can detect things like:
- Supply drops
- Loot crates in caves
- Alpha creatures
- Apex creatures, dropping boss tribute items
It should be noted that this talent only marks the loot that you can collect yourself. One of the most unique talents of this bird is its ability to mimic other players’ voices. It will mimic what people around it say, making it a fun and unique companion to have with you.
Moreover, the Parrot also allows you to become invisible to wild creatures, which significantly increases your safety during exploration of dangerous territories. Another useful thing about this bird is its personal Crafting Skill statistic. Once you get it and it starts riding on your shoulder, your Crafting Skill automatically equals the Parrot’s crafting skill level. In other words, this pet allows you to easily create high-level equipment without having to use a Mindwipe Tonic.
