In Crimson Desert, Mallards are a very hard pet to find, and because of their low spawn rate, it may take a lot of time before you find one and can tame it. You can unlock the Mallard Knowledge if you are looking to complete your Knowledge Book before you try to tame a Mallard. Here’s where to find the Mallard and how to tame it.
How to Get the Mallard Knowledge

Head down south of Hernand City to visit the southern territory of farms. You’ll find a group of masked kids at the intersection. Check each child to see if any of them say anything about silkworms or golden spiders. If all three of these topics are not discussed after checking all five of them, teleport and come back again.
When you locate the correct child, keep talking to them until they mention Mallards; this will unlock the Knowledge entry.
What Are Mallard Pets & How to Locate Them

The Mallard is a bird pet in Crimson Desert that can be adopted by building its trust through repeated interactions and feeding it food. Once recruited, it automatically loots defeated enemies during combat. Mallards are commonly found in Pailune and Hernand and have only a single appearance with no color variations.
The Mallard is located at the intersection of Pailune and Hernand, near a small rock shrine. The best spot to find them is right in front of this shrine, but you won’t be able to do so if they get scared off by your arrival. You will need to equip the Shadow Leaf set before you approach them.
How to Spawn the Mallard

The recommended method for spawning the Mallard is:
1. Create a save at the shrine.
2. Reload the same save.
3. After loading, you’ll appear at a bridge just north of the shrine.
4. Return to the shrine and check whether the Mallards have spawned.
5. If they haven’t, teleport to a nearby Nexus Point and return to the shrine to check again.
Walking around the area does not appear to generate the same animal spawns as teleporting or reloading a save.
Other animals, including common terns, cats, raccoons, crows, and foxes, can also appear at this location, so it may take many attempts before the Mallards finally spawn.
How to Tame the Mallard Pet
Fill your bag with common, easy to get bug species (like crickets or dragonflies) as they are great for taming Mallards when they first arrive. These won’t be the mallard’s top food choices but they work since they can be found pretty easily.
