The Ancient Ore Armor can typically only be obtained during late-game stages. However, with the right approach, you will be able to acquire this excellent armor earlier in Gothic 1 Remake. This article will outline everything you need to know to successfully defeat Gomez and his guards for claiming the armor during chapter 1.
Gain Access to the Inner Old Camp
You’ll first need to complete the Outer Ring quest for gaining access to the inner area of Old Camp. After you complete the quest, you can go through the castle door, and head upstairs. There, you’ll need to kill the unknown guard you’ll find on the upper floor. Once he has been killed, you can go to sleep until midnight so that when you go to the throne room, there are fewer NPCs.
Defeat Gomez’s Bodyguards
The next step for you is to get rid of Gomez’s bodyguards, namely Arto and Scar. Once the throne room is clear of others, isolate them one at a time. If you see both of them walk out together, speak to one of them (to keep him from walking away) and once they have been separated, proceed to eliminate and loot each guard individually. Scar will be carrying Scar’s Sword which is the most powerful one-handed sword in the game.
After you have dealt with the bodyguards, return around 11:00 PM and wait for your target, Gomez, to leave his spot on the throne at midnight, follow him to the upstairs area and then kill him. You will also need to loot everything he has in his inventory, including Ring of Invincibility, two-handed sword and two Master Keys.
Open Gomez’s Room and Claim the Armor
Change the time back to daytime and go to Gomez’s room on the upper floor of the manor located on the left side. Enter using a Master Key. If the door does not open, lockpick it or follow Velaya in at around 9:00 AM.
Inside, one of the chests contains the Ancient Ore Armor. There’s also another chest inside which you will find a Fire Amulet that grants access to strong equipment during chapter 1 of the game.
