Tarred fabric is one of the main crafting materials used to progress further in Windrose. You must gather various resources from different biomes, then use specific crafting stations. This guide explains how to collect flax and use that material to make tarred fabric as efficiently and easily as possible.
Collect Flax in the Foothills

To get started, you’ll need to search the second biome (the Foothills), look for blue flowers called flax that you’ll find blooming everywhere (these flowers are plentiful in the biome), and collect as much of it as you need.
Turn Flax into Linen Fabric

Next, create a spinning wheel from the crafting and utilities section of your building panel. Once you have created one, place it down in a cleared area and use it to turn the flax that you have gathered into linen cloth.
Get Tar from the Swamp

To obtain tar, you’ll need access to the swamp biome, which unlocks after defeating the second boss. Once there, look for tarwood trees, which appear as half-dead trees. Chop them down using an iron pickaxe or better to collect tar.
Craft Tarred Fabric
Finally, build a tanning rack from the build menu. Use it to craft tarred fabric using:
- 1 Linen Fabric
- 1 Tar
After a short crafting time, your tarred fabric will be ready.
