Salt is one of the resources in Windrose that is more important than it first seems. As you move into tougher areas, you’ll start relying on better food, and that’s where salt really comes in handy. It’s mainly used in cooking to make meals that increase your stats and help you survive longer. The only catch is that it’s not very easy to find, especially early on. In this guide, we will show you how to get salt.

How to Get Salt

You will have to go into the Archipelago region to look for ships that have been wrecked and other ships found around the islands. Remember, the main thing is to loot all the crates and barrels within the ship. However, you should bear in mind that the item does not come up every time, but only occasionally.

Alternatively, you may choose to purchase the salt from several vendors in the game. There is one particular vendor called the Brethren of the Coast Provisioner, who sells salt upon reaching level two in the faction. Each unit of salt costs 2 Piastre. Another is the Tortuga Food Seller, which requires no faction level; however, its cost is a little high, costing 3 Piastre per salt.

How to Use Salt

Salt is a very simple yet very important ingredient that you will find yourself using quite frequently while playing the game. Salt becomes particularly useful if you want to make yourself better meals that will provide you with some stat bonuses. If at any point you happen to get too much salt, you can simply sell it off to Tortuga Buyer. Each Salt will be worth 3 Piastre, which means that it’s a good way to earn a bit of extra money.

When it comes to crafting, salt is used in several recipes. You can use it to craft meals such as Burrito and Chowder, where each of these recipes provides you with 2 portions. There are also recipes such as Gazpacho and Seafood Platter, which provide you with 4 portions.
