The only way to farm serum in the game is by attaching a Pipe Gatherer to any tree that you cannot cut down. There are certain large trees that are impossible to cut down using any axe you own. Once you find these trees, you have to craft and stick the pipe gatherer in it to gather resin and serum. You can unlock the pipe gatherer under Bronze Tools of the Knowledge and Technology tree.
Crafting the pipe gatherer requires 10x Leather, 10x Bronze Ingots, 20x Planks and 5x Copper Wires. You require a craftsman bench to craft this item. Once done, you can stick it into the tree and start harvesting serum. Serum starts gathering a bit later, as the first item you might get from the pipe gatherer is resin. Wait till all the resin is out from the tree to get serum right after. Both resin and serum can be used to craft raw liquor
