Before you can start going after iron, you need to unlock the crescent pickaxe. This is the only pick that will help you mine for Iron. Next, you need to have the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation and the Unraveling a Fateful Bond incantation. One will help you access the surface, while the other will help you survive out there. And with that, you can continue on your quest to the surface and explore the new biomes. But the biome you need to head over to find Iron is the Rift of Thessaly
Once you reach this region, look around for dark rounded spheres on the ground. They can be found on the warships or on the islands that you explore. Once you find them, use the pickaxe to mine and get iron. Iron can be used for the following crafting recipes
- Sandy Lifespring Incantation: 3x Iron and 3x Driftwood. Reveals a hidden isle within the Rift of Thessaly
- Greater Favor of Gaia Incantation: 2x Marble, 4x Bronze, and 4x Iron. Visit the Silver Pool to unlock Tool Enchantments
- Aspect of Medea: 4x Iron and 1x Nightshade. Can be used on the Argent Skull:
- Crescent Pick Rank II: 6x G Rock (Glassrock), 4x Iron. Using this tier pickaxe helps increase the farming chance to get iron
