Forging the War Sword is part of The Templar’s Blade quest in Gothic 1 Remake. To forge the War Sword you need to show your smithing skills to make a unique weapon that was made by Darrion. To make this weapon you will need to go through Gor Na Zar’s blade and find the required expensive materials. This guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to finish the quest as efficiently as possible.

Start the Quest from Stone

Starting The Templar’s Blade quest involves going to the Old Camp and talking to Stone (the blacksmith) in the Castle Yard during Chapter 2. You must first complete learning one-handed smithing from Hugo (in the Old Camp) before you can speak to Stone. Once you learn all of Stone’s master smithing techniques, Stone will tell you about a Templar with a special sword and ask you to study it.

Find Gor Na Zar in the Swamp Camp

Make your way to the Swamp Camp and enter the temple to locate Gor Na Zar, who possesses Darrion’s unique blade and will refuse to give it to you. While you can battle him to seize his sword, defeating him would make all of the people within the Swamp Camp your enemies; thus, the alternative is to speak with Darrion directly.

Prove Your Smithing Skills to Darrion

Talk to Darrion and tell him you want a sword made like Gor Na Zar’s. He would challenge your skill set and ask you to build him a Light Two-Handed Sword. He will sell you the schematics for around 400-500 ore nuggets. You will need to create the weapon using the correct materials. The Light Two-Handed Sword will deal 60 damage.

Once you demonstrate your skills, Darrion will show you how to forge the War Sword. The materials that are necessary to create the War Sword include Iron, Steel, Willow Wood, Ruby, and Leather. Preparing the War Sword can be expensive as you will have to purchase a Blueprint as well as materials.

Return to Stone

You will need to return to Stone at the Old Camp with the War Sword you have worked to create, so he can inspect it and acknowledge Darrion’s craftsmanship. Stone will reward you with experience points (500) and ore nuggets (17) before completing The Templar’s Blade quest.
