To start collecting seeds, you first need to collect them from the source. Certain fruits and nuts will contain seeds within them, which you can obtain by taking the said fruit or nut to the grinder. You can set your monkeys to harvest fruits and nuts so they start harvesting seeds. Another way to collect seeds is to head over to barbarian camps and loot their fields. Not only will you get crops, you can also collect seeds this way and take them back to camp.
Sometimes, while exploring barbarian camps, you will come across chests. Unlock these chests and you might find some seeds inside. These are the only two ways you can gather seeds. One is via the grinder if you have the parent plant or fruit, and the other is by scavenging barbarian camps. You can then take these seeds to your farming plot and assign one of your tribesmen to look after it to get the crop you want
